Grandfather Passed Away

My grandfather passed away this morning at 11:00 with as many family members who could get there quickly enough there--I rubbed his head and Grandma and my aunt held him while my uncle and church members said prayers and words of encouragement. The hospice workers were wonderful.

Frida,
I am so, so sorry. No matter how anticipated; you can never be prepared for something like this.

I hope you (all of you) are OK. Know that someone in NY is thinking of you guys and wishing there was more she could do than think and pray.

I am glad you were there in those last minutes. That so many if you were there. That is a treasure for you all, a kindness shared for a kind man.

Many Blessings to your Grandfather for safe passage to whatever's next ... and to all the bereaved, for gentle grieving and easy-as-possible letting go.

Frida, I am glad that you were there. And I was glad it sounded like a peaceful death. I am sorry for the turmoil and memories that you are dealing with and I wish I could be there also. To go surrounded by those who care is a both a comfort and a tribute. I hope you can get comfort in the grieving. Email anytime.

Yes, I think it was a peaceful death. Thank you for your very sweet and heartelt card, dear--I received that in the mail today. I am very tired and my son has the flu now, but I will write more as soon as I am able to.

Alas, I have been away from my much-loved blogger sisters... and return to hear this sad news.

My deepest sympathies on your loss, Frida.

Interestingly, I usually just bawl at all sorts of stories which might be the least bit sad to some. However, reading this post, I was struck by the feeling that *this was not as sad as one might think* - that your grandfather was surrounded by such love, it felt like a beautiful passing.

I hope that makes sense somehow. I believe he went on the wings of the strength and love you all gave him.

Blessings to you and your family during this time.
